Keeping the bunnies away is important to any home gardener. However, I wanted to find a way to embrace the bunnies and be nice to them instead of hurting them with chemicals.
I found a great recipe for Homemade Rabbit Repellent on a Frugal Living website. I loved the idea of it right away, I had all the ingredients at home and it was simple and cheap to do. Plus, it does what it's meant to do, repel rabbits and that's it!
What You Need:
1 gallon of water
5 cloves smashed garlic
1 T castille soap (or organic dish soap)
1 t crushed red pepper
container or milk jug
spray bottle
Simply mix all the ingredients together in a container. Let the mixture sit out in the sun for a day to let the ingredients come together. Transfer the mixture to a spray bottle and spray away.
This mixture is safe to put directly on you plants as well as around your plants or on your planters.
Since it makes a whole gallon and most spray bottles are smaller than that, you should adjust the recipe for your size spray bottle. I didn't mind the extra because I have a lot of ground to cover and I knew I would need a little more!
